Misc: What it takes to be great

If you have been following this blog for a while you will know that I am fascinated about the idea of pursuing your "element", something that turns you on and that you could be doing forever without getting tired of it. For a long time I have been wondering why there are some people that become excepcional doing something and that  are barely beaten and I just found this article talking about that. I pretty much agree with everything said there although I think they forgot the key part whicih is passion. Obviously exceptional people have some talent on what they do and they master it dedicating hundreds of hours. The article says that if working very hard everybody can be exceptional and that you just need to adopt a new mindset. To me the most important thing behind this quote is finding your "element". If you are doing what you really like and enjoy doing you can dedicate endless time in an effortless way and that is what will really makes you eventually exceptional.  I don´t know if anybody can dedicate such a enormous effort to something that they are not really pasionate about it no matter which is your midnset. At somepoint everybody would fail while the passionate one will keep moving forever. I also think that people tends to like doing things that result naturally easy to them so this is were the "talent" comes into the equation . "Competing" with somebody naturally gifted for doing something and that can be doing it endless and effortless doesn´t make any sense as, no matter what, you will always be behind.  The effort should be focused to find your "element" (probably the most difficult part) and everything else will come naturally.

Reading the article though, a new question came to my mind. What happen with those guys that are "forced" by their parents since they are very young to do something? Can you "inception" the element in very young kids? I will keep posting about this topic everytime I found more information about it as I find it fascinating (maybe my element?).

You can read the article here and take your own conclusions :)
